Living composers

Vincent de Kort enjoys working together with composers of today. Terence Blanchard is a celebrated 8-time Grammy winning and twice Oscar-nominated jazz trumpeter and composer. After the huge success of his opera Fire Shut Up In My Bones at the Metropolitan Opera in New York he composed an orchestral suite of the opera which in 2024 was premiered by the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2026 Vincent will conduct both the European premiere of this amazing orchestral suite with the NWD Phiharmonie in Germany as well as the South American premiere in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Together with Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal, Vincent recorded 2 CD’s with works of Dutch Canadian composer Jaap Nico Hamburger for the Canadian label LEAF, his Piano Concerto followed by the 2nd Symphony, which was nominated for a JUNO award in 2022. He also premiered Hamburgers Harp Concerto with star harpist Lavinia Meijer and the Residentie Orchestra The Hague. At Opera Hawaii he performed the gripping opera Siren Song by one of the most successful British composers of today Jonathan Dove

Piazzolla 100

With star bandoneon player Carel Kraayenhof, Vincent shares his passion for the music of Argentina’s most beloved composer Astor Piazzolla. Together Kraayenhof and de Kort celebrate Piazzolla’s 100th birthday in 2021 with a series of projects. In February 2020 they launched this anniversary project together with The Württembergisches Kammerorchester Heilbronn at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. In November 2021 they performed together with the Residentie Orchestra The Hague at TivoliVredenburg in their Friday Evening series in Utrecht. A project with the Münchener Symphoniker in July 2021 was postponed due to corona.

TV shows

Vincent is a frequent guest on Dutch national television in various programs and talk shows as a true advocate for classical music. From 2015 - 2019 Vincent has been the jury chairman of the highly popular Dutch TV series MAESTRO, every Sunday night watched by two million viewers. A thrilling competition where Dutch celebrities, among them pop singers, comedians, actors, television presenters, Olympic sport champions, have to try to conduct a professional orchestra. The winner will be awarded with the golden baton. Together with his fellow jury members Isabelle van Keulen and Dominic Seldis Vincent is looking for the real conducting talent among the candidates. MAESTRO, originally a BBC format in the UK, combines entertainment with an effective way of introducing classical music to larger and younger audiences.

Filmmusic

Vincent loves film music! De Avond van de Filmmuziek ‘The  Evening of Film Music’ is an annual event of 3 consequently sold out evenings  at the Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw. Together with the Grammy award winning Metropole Orchestra, the Netherlands Concert Chorus and a line up of well known soloists, a big success is guaranteed with the famous film scores of Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Vangelis, Ludovico Einaudi and many others. The concerts are broadcasted on Dutch television for BNNVARA.

De Magie van de Maestro
Over de liefde voor dirigeren

In November 2019 the book ‘De Magie van de Maestro’ (The Magic of the Maestro - about the love for conducting) was published at Singel Publishers. Together with journalist Koos de Wilt, Vincent explores the secrets of the magic behind conducting. Apart from juicy anecdotes about his hero’s Bernard Haitink, Claudio Abbado, Mariss Jansons, Valery Gergiev, Nicolaus Harnoncourt, Vincent de Kort also shares his own experiences and adventures while working with symphony orchestras and opera houses across the globe.

Vincent is also an inspirational keynote speaker. He is a true advocate for classical music, the way he speaks about his music and leadership is contagious. The way a conductor communicates with a symphony orchestra is a metaphor for leadership in many other worlds.
