‘Boris Godunov’ at the Sjaliapin Festival in Kazan

The Sjalapin Festival in Kazan has been very important for my development as an opera conductor. Conducting one or two opera’s every year at the festival gave me the opportunity to build up an extensive opera repertoire. From Mozart, Rossini, Verdi, Puccini to Mussorgsky. Conducting Boris Godunov with Russian superstar bass Mikhail Svetlov singing Boris in 2004 and learning from him about Russian soul was like a dream!
